Department of Post has a network of over 1,54,149. Post Offices of which 1,37,847 are in
rural areas. The annual mail volume works out to 18 pieces of mail for each man, woman and
child in the country living in more than 15 crores of homes. Total Postal Traffic
during the year 1999-99 was 15,7,665 lakhs pieces of mail as compared to 3207.7 million
during 1994-95. COMMERCIAL PUBLICITY :
India Post
offers various media for advertising products
and services, advertise on Postal stationary, Money Order forms, Post Office Saving Bank
Pass Books and by display of posters inside Post Offices and cancellation of mails. You
can advertise also on letter boxes and postal vans.
GUIDELINES
:
The art work will be provided by the advertiser and the message will appear
in the colour in which the item is printed
On Inland letter cards and aerogramme, colour printing
in upto four colours can be done at a very economical cost. Advertisement on postcards can
also be printed in a colour different from the colour of the stamp. The Advertisement can
be in the form of a message/slogan or logo or both.
On Postcards and Inland letters, the advertisement
message can be printed in any Indian Language. Message on aerogramme
can be printed only
in English Language.
The advertiser can specify the region/s for sale of postal stationary and the
painting of letter boxes in a specified area. The contents and designs of the
advertisement have to be approved by the Director General of Posts.

DESIGNING :
Advertisement in one colour,
should be typographical, medium and light face. On Postcards and Aerogrammes this may be
in 8-12 points, and for Inland Letter Cards in 8-18 points.
A small logo can appear in the
advertisement. In Postcards, it should not clash with the emblem. In Inland Letters, the
height of letters should not exceed 5 mm.
FORMS :
The letters should not be in
more than 18 points.
TERMS OF
PAYMENT |
The advertisement orders for
printing on Postal media received through advertising agencies registered with India Post
should be for the minimum quantity of one item. 10% agency commission is payable to
the advertising agency.
A commission of 5% is payable to all the
individuals for getting the business for Media Post provided they are enrolled with the INDIA
POST.
