Postage Stamp Service
postage stamp is used for official mail posted by Government /
Semi-Government / Quasi Government establishments. Who
can use Service Stamps Only
authorised officials can use service postage stamps and the mail
should be in the business of the establishment. Mail
of Local Authority can be Official Postal Article only when an
officer of Government acts as its secretary or president. Private
persons, as per official requirement, can send official articles.
Such an article, if SERVICE UNPAID and accepted by the addressee,
will be charged only single postage. Conditions Article
must bear the superscription ON INDIA GOVERNMENT SERVICE if
posted by any other authorised official. The
article must bear the signature of the dispatching official along
with the designation stamp of the office. Postmaster may recognize
facsimile impression for signature. Redirection
of service article is according to the official designation of the addressee, not the name of the addressee. Office
files containing notes, orders, draft letters, and fair copies may
be sent by post as letter, packet or parcel at the option of the
sender. A
parcel may contain office files and each such file may contain one
letter having the character of personal communication.
